Re-Entry and New Employee Testing
New employees and employees returning to campus for the first time since March 2020 are not required to get tested for COVID-19, but tests are available for employees if requested at the East Campus Storm Shelter, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Feb. 5. No appointment is necessary.
Before returning in the spring, faculty and staff are encouraged to review the Employee COVID-19 Training and new employees are required to complete the training. Access the learning plan via the UA LMS button located on the employee tab in myBama.
Exposure and Symptomatic Testing
COVID-19 testing is currently available by appointment at University Medical Center Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., for faculty and staff who are experiencing symptoms or who have been exposed to the virus.
IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OR HAVE BEEN EXPOSED: Call the UA COVID-19 Hotline at (205) 348-CV19 (2819) to begin the process of scheduling an appointment for exposure and symptomatic testing. Testing costs will be submitted to employees’ health insurance plans, with remaining balances and co-pays billed to employees.
Sentinel testing involves the random sampling of all asymptomatic students, faculty and staff to understand the underlying prevalence of infection on campus so we can respond promptly to outbreaks or increases in infection rates. Our goal is to test around 3% of the campus population each week. Sentinel testing resumes Jan. 19.
