Director of Athletics Greg Byrne appointed J Batt to lead a 10-person subcommittee to look at all aspects of athletics, including student-athlete health, safety and well-being, ticketing, and venues.
Athletics is also working closely with Finance & Operations, Strategic Communications, Student Life, and others on campus to take the best ideas from athletic events to other campus activities, including Commencement, Gameday, and Tailgating.
Athletics is busy working on contingency plans should health and safety require changes to event schedules, attendee expectations, tailgating, and/or facility capacity. Considerations under review include symptom assessment, distributed seating, and mandatory face coverings.
- Appropriate symptom screening will be a standard expectation of entry at many campus events.
- Final athletic plans will adhere to existing and developing NCAA, SEC, and CDC guidelines, and other important public health information.
- Student-Athletes will receive targeted education and additional screening and testing, in light of the frequent contact involved in sports and related activities.
